Victoria’s most successful not for profit organization, the Brotherhood of St Laurence, approached me to design their new concept store Second Edition. More than a bookstore, the design for this space also incorporated an Apple docking station and café. Inspired by the many folded cardboard boxes at Brotherhoods huge warehouse, a system of ‘folded’ timber panels become a playful medium throughout the space to create walls, bookshelves, and the apple tree docking station. The contrasting tones and textures combine to create the impression of a foldable space. This innovative design went on to become the winner of the Australian Timber Design Awards, for best Commercial Interior Fit Out.
